Partners Allocate New Resources to the CTI-CFF

On January 16-17, 2013, over 50 representatives from the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries and Food Security (CTI-CFF) Interim Regional Secretariat, official CTI partners and prospective new donors met in Sanur, Indonesia at a Partner Coordination Meeting to identify needs and garner commitments to maintain the forward momentum of the Initiative. With the recognition that USAID’s five-year $42 million US Coral Triangle Initiative Support Program will end in September 2013, participants identified key priorities to ensure the establishment of the permanent Secretariat and advancement of regional and national plan of action goals.

Priorities include the provision of staffing support for the Secretariat and the CTI-CFF National Coordinating Committees; the engagement of new donors; and the continued collaboration among partners including the government of Australia, the Asian Development Bank, the World Wildlife Fund, Conservation International and The Nature Conservancy. The outcomes of the meeting included the commitments of individual partners to provide leadership and resources to each CTI-CFF Technical Working Group; extend staffing support to the Secretariat; and the expression of interest by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to formally engage with the CTI-CFF.
